Hottest Women MMA Weigh-Ins Ever

The face offs at the ceremonial weigh-ins before the MMA fights are great.
Sometimes I wish they happened in the ring ringht before the match.
But I guess that would be a bit too much like a schoolyard brawl huh?
Anyway, here are some of the best female MMA face-offs ever.

Lena "Hunter" Ovchynnikova vs Julia Budd

Paige VanZant vs  Kailin Curran

Ronda Rousy vs Cat Zingano

Miesha Tate vs Jessica Eye

Jessica Eye vs. Julianna Peña

Felice Herrig def. Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc
(I couldn't show the best one of these because Blogger would shut me down. But look it up)

Carla Esparza vs. Rose Namajunas

Felice Herrig and Paige VanZant

Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate

Rose "Thug Rose" Namajunas Defeats Michelle "The Karate Hottie" Waterson

On Saturday night, April 15 2017, Rose "Thug Rose" Namajunas pounded Michelle "The Karate Hottie" Waterson at UFC on FOX 24 live on FOX from inside Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri
Michelle got a sweep takedown in the first round but after that it was all Rose.
She gave the "Karate Hottie" a head kick that floored her and from there it was ground-and-pound and a rear-naked choke finish.
Rose now goes to on to face the winner of the Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Jessica Andrade fight later this year.

Also, as opposed to some MMA fights we have seen lately, these two ladies showed real class after the fight.

Ana Julaton - Women Fighters

Like a lot of other female MMA fighters, Filipino-American Ana Julaton started out as a female boxer.
As a boxer, Ana has a 14-4-2 record.
But in 2014, she signed a contract with ONE FC to fight in MMA for them.
Not without reason though, Ana has a black belt in Bok Fu and also a black belt in Taekwondo.
Her current MMA record is 2-2-0 and her last MMA fight was in 2015.
Ana was born on July 5th, 1980 in San Francisco, California.

Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm at UFC 195

Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm at UFC 195

On Saturday, January 2, UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will take on Holly Holm.
Of course Ronda's unbeaten record is 12-0-0 with her last four victories coming in a combined 130 seconds.
Holly is 9-0-0 in MMA, but was 33-2-3 in boxing, which will make her the best striker that Ronda has ever faced.
And add to that, Holly is used to going 12 rounds in a fight, something Ronda's opponents never get the chance to do.

UFC 190 - Rousey vs. Correia

Well we all know that UFC 190: Rousey vs. Correia, will be August 01, 2015 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
We know that Ronda Rousey is 11-0-0 and Bethe Correia is 9-0-0.
We know there is a lot of bad blood there and Ronda has threatened to draw the fight out and punish Bethe, which I guess that means Ronda will run it up to the 2:30 mark of the first round.
Does Bethe stand a chance?
Well if you have read this blog, you know that so far I have NEVER gotten a prediction right, starting with me saying that Gina Carano would beat Cyborg Santos way back when.
So I ain't sayin' nothing.

UFC 190 - Rousey vs. Correia

There is another women's bout that night as well, with Jessica Aguilar (19-4-0) taking on Claudia 'Claudinha' Gadelha (12-1-0)
I ain't calling that one either.

The Biggest Female MMA Weekend In History

Tonight starts the biggest female MMA weekend in history.

First up is Invicta FC 11 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles when Cris "Cyborg" Justino defends her Invicta Featherweight Championship against Charmaine Tweet.
Cris is 12-1-0 and Charmaine is 6-4-0.

cris cyborg vs charmaine tweet

Then tomorrow night at UFC 184 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, Ronda Rousey 10-0-0 will take on Cat Zingano 9-0-0.
Good news though...
At the UFC 184 Ultimate Media Day, Rousey actually took the time to shake her opponent’s hand!
Maybe Ronda is actually starting to show some sportsmanship!

Angelica Chavez - Women MMA Fighters

One of the most popular women on this blog in 2014 wasn't one of the big names in Women's MMA like Rosey or Tate or Justino.
It was Angelica Chavez.
Yes the five foot one, 105 pound fighter out of Albuquerque, New Mexico was very popular here.
Angelica is currently 4-3-0.
She got off to a good start, but sadly her last three fights have all been losses.

10-3-0 Ukrainian kickboxer and mixed martial artist Lena "Hunter" Ovchynnikova.
She is the current WBC Muaythai Women's World Flyweight Champion.

UFC 181 - No Holly Holm

Well I am sure you have already heard that Holly Holm will not be making her UFC debut tonight at UFC 181.
She had to pull out because of a herniated disc.
That's the bad news.

Holly Holm - women mma fighters - mma women fighters

The good news is that she has been cleared to resume training and is looking at making her debut sometime in February of 2015.
That's a shame because I was really looking forward to her UFC debut.
The Women's Bantamweight fight tonight will instead be Raquel Pennington (4-4-0) against Ashlee Evans-Smith (3-0-0).

Marloes Coenen - The Best Female MMA Fighter?

Marloes “Rumina” Coenen was recently ranked number one by MMARising in it's Unified Women’s Mixed Martial Arts Rankings.
Female MMA Fighter Cristiane Justino, who was number one was removed due to inactivity and for vacating the division.
So 22-6-0 Marloes moves up to number one.
Oddly though, despite being number one there, Marloes is not even in their list of the "Top 15 Women’s Pound-For-Pound MMA Rankings".

Marloes last fight was a win over Annalisa Bucci at Bellator MMA - Bellator 130 on October 24th, 2014 at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas.
She won via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) in 57 seconds in the third round.

Here she is dancing with Miesha Tate back in 2011.....

Holly Holm to debut at UFC 181

Female boxer turned UFC MMA fighter Holly Holm will debut at UFC 181: Hendricks vs. Lawler II on December 6, 2014 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her opponent will be Raquel Pennington (4-4-0).
I have liked Holly ever since her boxing days.
She is 33-2-3 in boxing and 7-0-0 in MMA so far.
And yes...a lot of people are talking about Holly vs Ronda.
Which is a much better idea than Rousey vs Carano.

Carina "Barbie" Damm - MMA Women

Carina "Barbie" Damm - MMA Women
May 21, 2007 Nicknames are not uncommon among mixed martial arts athletes. A look at the current roster of Bodog Fighters reveals colorful monikers such as "Red Nosed Pitt Bull", "Buffalohead", "The Eraser", and "The Juggernaut".

The importance of a good handle has not been lost on female fighters either, with flamboyant Brazilian Carina "Beauty But The Beast" Damm providing a first-rate example.

While most nicknames are designed to intimidate, like Bill "The Butcher" Mahood or Brad "One Punch" Pickett, a nickname like "Cuddles" undoubtedly falls short of such goals. Nevertheless, Ohio's Jan Finney insists she's no teddy bear.

MMA Women - Marloes Coenen

Marloes Coenen (born March 31, 1981 in Olst, Netherlands) is a Dutch mixed martial artist. Her brothers and grandfather were both into martial arts, the latter having taken jujitsu twenty years earlier, which aided her own transition into the sport. She started training with Martijn de Jong at Shooto Holland while only 14, who recalls "I really had respect for that, because it didn't matter if it rained or snowed. She still kept on coming." She has said in an interview with Martial Arts News Magazine that she is keen to fight Erin Toughill, whom she calls the "personification of arrogance."

Her last fight was a win by submission against Yoko Takahashi at Shooto-G on March 11, 2006. Along with her competitive career, she is planning to study communications sciences in Amsterdam with a view to employment in that sector.

MMA Women - Mayra Conde

MMA Women - Mayra Conde
MMA Women - Mayra Conde

Mayra Conde (born January 28, 1969 in Guatemala City, Guatemala) is a mixed martial artist, who has also competed in kickboxing, brazilian jiu-jitsu and bodybuilding.

Weight 158lb (72kg)
Born January 28, 1969
Fighting out of The Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club
Town of birth Guatemala City, Guatemala

Conde hails from Guatemala City, where she grew up on her grandparents' farm. She has spoken fondly of her time there in interviews, as well as citing her grandfather as "my source of strength". However, at the age of nine when her younger brother was born, Conde moved with her parents to Toronto, Canada, hoping for a better education.

Her early years as an immigrant were tough; "I was constantly picked on because I couldn't speak English and was very small". Conde proved up to the challenge, never failing a grade, and is now bilingual, speaking both her native Spanish and adopted English. While still at school, Conde got into sports drinks and nutrition through her father, which led to her becoming a bodybuilder at the age of 16. Her muscular physique proved useful when she moved into construction work after high school. Earning a living as a welder, she would later become a foreman.

In August 1998, despite having no previous grappling experience, Conde still won first place in the women's heavyweight division of Canadian Grapplers Challenge. She says the guillotine choke she bested her first opponent with "was a natural movement when she shot in on me...People asked me how long I had been grappling and I said that I needed to get started." Conde also retained her interest in bodybuilding; the pull of Venice Beach proved irresistible. She left Canada for California along with a friend, Olga Bakalopoulos, who would also become both a weightlifter and mixed martial artist.

California brought Conde her first taste of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, training at the Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club with such luminaries as Mark Kerr and Bas Rutten. Learning from them and another trainer, Marcus Vinicius, she would later fight in the US, Brazil and Greece, and was a part of the groundbreaking all-female Hook N Shoot Revolution promotion.

MMA Women - Laura D'Auguste

MMA - Laura D'Auguste
Laura D'Auguste is a female mixed martial artist. She initially started practising martial arts to protect herself and her daughter from her husband. She also works as a cardiac nurse.

D'Auguste's first experience with martial arts came in April 1996; previously, she had taken ballet and modern dance. Her mother signed her up for a Woman's Safe Seminar at Tiger Schulmann's Karate Center, where she learnt basic grab escapes and strikes. This came at a difficult time for the unemployed D'Auguste, who had recently left an abusive marriage, taking a 3 year old daughter along with her. Her escape to New York from Arizona had to be planned carefully; her husband had threatened to kill her if she ever left.

D'Auguste had already spent all her money on child care and nursing school, but knew she needed further self-defence training. Sensei Peter Guzman, an instructor at the school, made an agreement with D'Auguste that she could work off her tuition fees through various chores at the gym; for example, taking calls, mopping the floors and cleaning the locker room. Soon, she was training regularly, eventually earning her 2nd degree black belt and level 2 Joshu.

D'Auguste began competing in MMA in 2000 for the TSK Fight Team, later becoming the top ranked female fighter in the world. Her last fight was a win against Megumi Yabushita at Smack Girl: Dynamic on 17 August 2005.

Ramona Gatto - Female Kickboxing

Ramona Gatto - Female Kickboxing

Ramona Gatto, a nine time world champion kickboxer, known as "Kickboxing's Bad Girl" is one of the most accomplished female fighters of all time.
Growing up in a time when women were not accepted in the male dominated sport of professional pugilism, Ramona was told that her dream of becoming a professional fighter was not realistic and women could not become fighters.
Not accepting the status quo and society's take on what women could do, Ramona changed history by becoming one of the world's mostly highly accomplished professional fighters, and one of the best female fighters in history.

Besides kickboxing, Ramona also did some boxing, taking on Theresa Arnold back on March 27th, 1996 at the Lucky Eagle Casino, Rochester, Washington, United States.
Ramona lost, but you gotta remember, Theresa's record was 15-1-1.

In 2008, Ramona was teaching boxing, and got involved in a scandal about unsanctioned fights at Northern California boxing gyms.

And you can read more about Ramona's battles outside the ring here:
