Rigged - Fight Night (2008)

Rigged-Fight Night-Rebecca Neuenswander

"Rigged" follows Katherine "Kat" Parker (Rebecca Neuenswander) as she is recruited by a shady, fast-talking manager, Dublin (Chad Ortis), who has spent years learning the ropes in the illegal boxing world. When Dublin realizes he has a legitimate winner in Kat, they figure to get rich by taking on and whipping up all the male contenders within this seedy underground circuit of basement bars and abandoned warehouses. But Dublin’s dubious past is never too far behind.
Full story here

Rigged is Rebecca's first film. She studied martial arts for 12 years, mainly Tae Kwon Do, and she has done some mixed martial arts as well.

It seems like since this was written, the title has pretty much changed to "Fight Night" which you can see at the official site here:

Also since this entry was posted, the film has won a few awards, which I found interesting since it seems to be pretty widely hated on IMDb.

At Dances with Films in Santa Monica, California, it won Grand Jury Prize (best film in festival), at the Radar Hamburg International Independent Film Festival in Hamburg, Germany it won Best Feature Film, at the Action on Film International Film Festival in California, USA, it won Best Cinematography, and was nominated for Best Feature and Best Action Sequence on Film and at the SoCal Film Festival in Huntington Beach, Rebecca Neuenswander won Best Female Performance and the film was nominated for Best Direction.

You may not have heard much about the star of the film since it came out because Rebecca has been busy with a foundation she started, HALO (Helping Art Liberate Orphans).

I just rented "Fight Night" (formerly known as Rigged) on DVD this past weekend - I found it in the new releases. It was really good - Rebecca did a really good performance and it was alot of fun watching her in the fight scenes. Very likable character and more strong dramatic element to the movie rather than a straight action movie. Thanks for the info on the movie.
