UFC 214 - Cyborg Justino vs. Tonya Evinger


Last night at UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2 "Cyborg" Justino (18-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) defeated Tonya Evinger (19-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC).
Cyborg won via TKO (knees) in the 3rd round.
This makes Cyborg the new UFC Women's Featherweight Champion.

Also on the card, Aleksandra Albu defeated Kailin Curran via Decision (unanimous).

Sara McMann and Ketlen Vieira were supposed to face each other at the event, but back on July 7th it was announced that the bout was to be moved to UFC 215 in September

Alexandra Albu vs Kailin Curran - UFC 214

At UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2 on July 29, 2017 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California, not only do we get Cristiane Justino vs Tonya Evinger, but we also get the return of Alexandra Albu as she takes on Kailin Curran.
While Kailin is 4-4-0, Alexandra is 2-0-0.
BUT, Alexandra hasn't fought since her win over Izabela Badurek back in April of 2015.
So we will see what happens.

Gina Carano - Blast from the Past - MMA Women

Still one of the most popular female MMA fighters in the world is Gina Carano.
Although she hasn't fought since 2009, this five foot eight, 143 pound beauty from Dallas, Texas still has a lot of fans.
I have to admit, she was the person that got me to pay attention to female MMA, and MMA in general.

Lena Ovchynnikova - Female MMA Fighter

One of the most popular ladies on this blog is the beautiful Lena Ovchynnikova.
Yes beautiful, but deadly too.
She was born on April 22nd, 1987 in Lviv, in the Ukraine, stands 5'6 and weighs in at around 125 pounds.
Lena made her MMA debut on September 9th, 2006 and she has a 9-2-0 MMA record.
Before that she was a Kickboxer and also found in K-1 rules matches.


Her first MMA fight was a win over Svetlana Svetlana at IGF - International Gala Festival via Decision (Unanimous).
Out of her nine wins, seven were by submission and two were by decision.
She seems to prefer the armbar, but has gone to the Guillotine Choke and RNC when needed.

Lena's last fight was a win over Fathia Mostafa at SFL 16 - Super Fight League 16 on April 26th, 2013 via Submission (Guillotine Choke)
